Fausto Bocanegra (born 1926) is an American biologist. == Biography == Bocanegra was born in Buenaventura, Colombia, in 1926. He came to Barro Colorado Island in 1952. There, at the age of 26, he began research of the island from the Barro Colorado Island Research Station that was located in the Panama Canal Zone. He came to the island as a construction worker, for short period of time. His job was to build a new laboratory. For years he worked as a principal caretaker for a huge collection of live animals, that were kept by Martin Humphrey Moynihan, an STRIs director. Bocanegra operated the launches, that were designed for carrying messages and to transport certain materials for BCI. In 1988 he retired from his position, after working for 37 years.〔(Biography )〕
